Yes. The X2 controller is based on the open-source ArduPilot flight control system, which supports and automatically detects many different RC protocols.
PPM remote control (R/C) receivers (Sum signal - single wire)
SBus receivers

Spektrum DSM and DSM2 receivers
Spektrum DSM-X Satellite receivers

When using a different radio transmitter:
All channel assignments, channel directions, and switch assignments/directions must match the X2’s requirements. This is the easiest way. This is the actual default setting for the FS6i transmitter
Verify and adjust these settings in the external radio only, not in the X2 controller.
You can check the correct output by:
Viewing the channel output screen on the originally supplied FlySky i6S radio, or
Using the APM Mission Planner software to monitor channel outputs.
⚠️ Important: We do not recommend changing any settings inside the X2 controller itself. All adjustments should be done on the new radio control to ensure proper operation and safety. You can do it, but you might end up stuck because some channels cant be re-assigned, while others can.
The X2 controller has a few interlocks for safety reasons. First of all, the model can be operated in 3 different modes, 3D, Angle and GPS.
Both the 3D and Angle mode will pass your aileron/elevator stick inputs directly to the swash plate servos, regardless if the machine is armed or unarmed.
GPS mode will not give you any reaction at all unless armed and motors are running!
In order to arm and fly, in GPS mode you need a GPS signal. It can take up to 2 minutes to acquire a solid lock on the satellites, depending on cloud cover, buildings nearby, etc.
3D and Angle mode do not require this, hence indoor flights are also possible.
After powering up both radio and the model, the controller will usually, after a 20 seconds go into a double blink of the status LED. If you are in 3D or Angle mode indoors, this will turn into a single blink (red color) after its fully initialized. You can now arm and fly.
In GPS mode, this double blink will take at least one minute to resolve into a single blink, showing that you have enough satellites and signal clarity so that the GPS mode can be used.
The machine can only be armed from a single blink with the motor in switch in the CUT position.
To arm, move the left stick down and to the right, hand hold it there until the LED goes solid (color depending on the circumstances, red if indoors, blue or green if outdoors with GPS). Then and only then you have 10 seconds to start the motors by moving the motor lever from CUT into the RUN position. If you wait too long, for safety reasons, the machine will disarm itself and you have to arm it again.
